Overview
The purpose of the Arts and Culture program is to nurture the legacy of the artistic tradition so deeply rooted and established in the community through the creation of artistic, multidisciplinary programs, exhibitions, and activities which feature the visual, literary, and performing arts. Our core targets are communities and groups typically underserved and/or represented in and by the arts, and who often do not experience formal art programming that seeks to tell their stories, or address issues of importance to them.
Visual and Literary Art Exhibitions
We design programs that are open to all artists, nationally and internationally. Visual and literary artists, along with scholars and students present work around themes designed to provide a historical, academic, and cultural context. The programs are designed to foster intellectual stimulation and reflection and thereby create new insights by which audiences and participants alike can live, grow, and enhance their ability to be productive citizens.
Cultural Symposia
We feature symposia in which scholars across disciplines reflect on critical contemporary issues. These programs help build links and bonds between multiple and diverse neighborhoods, affirming and enlivening the human spirit, promoting cross-cultural and cross-generational understanding, enriching the quality and depth of life, for participants.
