Overview
Donor Sabbath is the CDC’s principal stand-alone program on health, although its Economic Development and STEM programs include health components.
Donor Sabbath
The CDC annually partners with Metropolitan AME Church, chapters of The Links, Inc., and local premier practitioners, to sponsor Donor Sabbath, a national observance to increase awareness within the African American community about organ and tissue donation and transplantation. The educational and inspirational programs are held at Metropolitan AME Church and often attract nearly 1000 people. The program has featured individuals who had benefitted from organ and tissue donation or transplantation. The program also provides opportunities for individuals to learn more about the need for advocates and donors and to register to become organ or tissue donors.
